I was recently asked by friend Whitney Combs to cover the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s 2014 Man & Woman of the Year. Combs was a candidate for the award, and I was happy to help her campaign. This touching charity event honored the 2014 Boy and Girl of the Year, as well as the men and women of Charlotte’s community who raised the most funds for blood cancer research during their 10-week-long campaign. The event was hosted at the Charlotte Marriott City Center. They transformed their ballroom into a beautiful venue. The night was filled with hugs, tears and cheers as supporters listened to stories from blood cancer survivors and their families. It’s just one more reminder that every day we live on this earth is a gift. One of the most memorable and touching parts of the event was the live auction. I was blown away and inspired by the immense generosity that filled the room. According to LLS Campaign Coordinator Becca Boyd, this year’s campaign raised the most donations than any year prior, totaling $472,364. Unprecedented, and unbelievable. I’m so happy I was able to witness such an uplifting event and document some great moments. Enjoy the photos.
